Frank L. Graves
As founder of EKOS Research Associates Inc., Frank Graves is one of the country’s leading applied social researchers, directing some of the largest and most challenging social research assignments conducted in Canada. For more than three decades, the firm has held a reputation for creative and rigorous research in the areas of public policy, social policy, and program evaluation, and as a leader in innovative survey techniques and methodology.
Mr. Graves has directed hundreds of large scale studies of Canadian attitudes to a vast array issues during his 36-year career, including the economy, immigration, defense and security, health care, the environment, national unity, and Canada-U.S. relations. His analysis and advice has been sought by senior decision makers in both the private and public sectors, including CEOs of top 100 Canadian companies, The Prime Minister’s Office, federal cabinet, the Clerk of the Privy Council, dozens of federal Deputy Ministers and the United States Ambassador to Canada, as well as the Canadian Ambassador to the United States.
Mr. Graves has published widely in academic and mainstream publications. He has lectured at the Rotman School of Business, the Harvard Kennedy School, the University of Ottawa, and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs in Washington.
Mr. Graves is a frequent commentator in Canadian and American media. He has directed numerous public opinion research projects on behalf of the CBC, the Toronto Star, the Globe and Mail, and La Presse.
Mr. Graves graduated from Carleton University with a B.A. in Social Anthropology, M.A. in Sociology, and has completed doctoral coursework in Sociology.
Senior Vice President, Quantitative Research
Ms. Galley has 25 years of experience in the development and execution of quantitative research, including telephone, online, intercept, and mail surveys. Her expertise lies in developing sound methodologies, designing and finalizing survey instruments and sample designs, and establishing control mechanisms to ensure the efficient and timely collection of data while adhering to established design parameters and working with the complex logistics necessary for large-scale, multifaceted projects. Ms. Galley is responsible for many of EKOS’ research design innovations developed in order to meet the challenges of complex multi-dimensional research issues and is instrumental in determining which methodologies or combination thereof can best meet the challenges offered by a given project and the needs of clients. Her experience has included the planning and coordination of multi-stage panel surveys with final data sets including 10,000 to 13,000 interviews; surveys with complex cluster samples; and surveys involving complex screening and linked multi-respondent files. Ms. Galley also has experience in designing, conducting, and reporting on results from qualitative lines of evidence, including in-person and online focus groups, as well as one-on-one interviews. Ms. Galley has a B.A. (Honours) in Psychology from Concordia University.
Chief Information Officer
As Chief Information Officer, Mr. Innes is responsible for developing and implementing EKOS’ technology strategy. This includes the development of all in-house information systems and developing the company’s intranet products. Mr. Innes has considerable experience and expertise in IT management and process re-design, in addition to an extensive background in qualitative and quantitative research. He is fluent in the development of data manipulation strategies and the re-design and adaptation of administrative data sets for research purposes. Mr. Innes has a strong background in survey design and analysis, research population definition, and sampling methods.
Prior to joining EKOS, Mr. Innes spent 10 years in managerial, information systems, and data analysis positions in the Administrative Management Group at Carleton University. While at Carleton, he held editorial responsibility for official corporate statistical publications and annual reports, and oversaw the automation of such publications for their eventual replacement by intranet-based computerized executive information systems. Mr. Innes graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from Concordia University and holds an M.A. in Sociology from Carleton University.
Vice President, Syndicated Products
Mr. Jansen has more than 20 years of experience as a supplier of public opinion, public policy, and communications research. He has expertise in all aspects of social science research, from questionnaire design through to complex multivariate analysis of research findings (e.g., cluster analysis, regression analysis, and factorial analysis). Over the course of his career, Mr. Jansen has directed hundreds of studies for a wide range of public and private sector clients. These studies have involved traditional telephone surveys, intercept surveys, in-person surveys, online data collection, and self-completed mail-back methodologies. Mr. Jansen’s particular area of expertise is the design, analysis, and interpretation of survey research. He has presented study findings at the Assistant Deputy Ministerial, Deputy Ministerial, and Ministerial levels within the federal government.
Prior to rejoining EKOS in 2004, Mr. Jansen was a Vice President at Ipsos-Reid where his responsibilities focused on the management of projects in the public affairs division. Mr. Jansen directed numerous projects — both qualitative and quantitative — for a wide range of public and private sector clients. He began his career in the early 1990s as a Research Associate with Environics-DRZ.
Mr. Jansen graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University, and holds a Master of Management Studies degree (with Distinction) from Carleton University.
